Coventry Lake Community Rowing Brings Home Gold at USRowing Nationals
Local Teen Rowers Sobie Dowd & John Cromie Shine in Sarasota, FL
Coventry, CT – Coventry Lake Community Rowing (CLCR) made history at the 2024 USRowing National Championships in Sarasota, Florida, as 16-year-olds Sobie Dowd and John Cromie captured the gold medal in the PR3 Mixed Inclusive Double (2x) event. Their outstanding performance on the national stage cements CLCR’s reputation as a leader in adaptive rowing and inclusive athletic excellence.
Dowd and Cromie, both dedicated athletes from CLCR’s adaptive rowing program, overcame fierce competition and challenging race conditions to dominate the final. Their victory represents not only individual achievement but also the strength of CLCR’s commitment to providing opportunities for athletes of all abilities.

This victory builds on CLCR’s continued efforts to expand accessibility in rowing, with a strong focus on supporting PR3 blind rowers and other adaptive athletes.
