Oars of Unity

Today was one of those rowing days that reminds you why we do this.

EO Smith Rowing, UConn Men's Rowing, and Coventry Lake Community Rowing came together on Coventry Lake for some mixed boat racing, plenty of laughs, great food, and even better company.

Different programs. Different ages and experience levels. One shared love of rowing.

Boats were mixed, crews were cheering for each other, competition was friendly, and the dock was full of the kind of camaraderie that makes rowing so special. Watching athletes from different programs climb into boats together, race together, encourage each other, and then sit down together afterward was truly heartwarming.

This is what community rowing can be.

It's not just about the time on the clock. It's about the people you meet, the friendships you build, the lessons you learn, and the feeling that you are part of something bigger than your own boat.

A huge thank you to everyone from EO Smith, UConn Men's Rowing, and CLCR who helped make today happen. And thank you to everyone who brought food, helped with the boats, raced, cheered, laughed and made the day what it was.

Three programs. One lake. One rowing community.
