What a season! Looking back at 2025, Coventry Lake Community Rowing (CLCR) grew in numbers, strength, community partnerships, and achievement. Whether you rowed your first stroke, raced at a regatta, cheered from shore, or volunteered behind the scenes, this year was about community — and it showed.
Our Rowing Season Kicked Off Strong
We opened the year with excitement as our spring rowing season took off in March, welcoming rowers of all ages and experience levels. Youth, adult, and masters programs returned to the water, setting the pace for a full calendar of rowing activities.
Home Regattas & Racing Highlights
- Our home regatta on May 3rd brought visiting crews to Coventry Lake, where fierce competition and great camaraderie filled the morning.
- Over the spring and early summer, CLCR crews competed in regional events, including the Head of the Quinsigamond Regatta, where our rowers brought home stellar results — including first place in the Men’s Quad and strong finishes across boats.
Youth Rowing and Camps
Summer was full of smiles and first strokes thanks to our collaboration with Camp Wangumbaug’s Trailblazers, where more than 16 young participants learned the basics of rowing over two sessions.
From beginners to competitive youth, the lake was alive with learning, growth, and teamwork — a true reflection of our mission to make rowing accessible and welcoming.
Competitive Spirit at Nationals
Several of our athletes represented CLCR at the USRowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida — racing with heart on a national stage.
Adult Rowing & Community Programs
CLCR continued to offer adult group rowing classes throughout the season — a great way for adults to build fitness, strength, and a connection to the lake. These sessions became a weekly highlight for many participants.
Celebrating Values On and Off the Water
Earlier in the year, CLCR recognized youth athletes who exemplify teamwork, integrity, and leadership, qualities we’re proud to foster in every program.
Grateful for Grants, Fundraisers, and Community Support
In 2025, grants and community support played a meaningful role in helping CLCR grow and reach more people. Support from the American Savings Foundation and USRowing’s Open Doors / United We Row programs helped offset core operating costs, provide required insurance and SafeSport training for coaches, and expand access-focused programming. Additional hometown and community-based grants, along with local fundraising efforts and individual donations, helped keep equipment on the water, support youth and adult rowing, and strengthen partnerships with organizations like Coventry Human Services and the Coventry Senior Center. Together, this support has given us real momentum heading into 2026, allowing us to plan with confidence and continue building programs that are welcoming, sustainable, and rooted in community.
Looking Ahead
2025 reminded us that rowing is more than sport — it’s community, challenge, support, and joy. Thank you to every rower, coach, volunteer, family member, and supporter who shared their time and energy to make this year memorable.
Bring on 2026 — there’s more water to row and more memories to make! 🚣♂️💙
